Prayers answered for Revillas

It was an emotional reunion between detained Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and his son, Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla, at the Asian Hospital in Alabang, Muntinlupa yesterday afternoon.
Sen. Revilla cried when he saw his son Jolo on his hospital bed for the first time since the latter accidentally shot himself last February 28.
When the senator entered the hospital room, Jolo saw him and the senator went straight to his bed and embraced his son.
Upon seeing his dad, Jolo told him, “Sorry, Papa. I’m Sorry,” according to lawyer Raymond Fortun, the Revilla family spokesman.
“It’s all right, anak. We have to be strong,” the senator told his son.
3RD CT SCAN
Sen. Revilla’s manager and close family friend Lolit Solis shared with Manila Bulletin that prior to the solon’s visit, Jolo’s girlfriend Jodi Sta. Maria was checking on him when he spit some blood. She said doctors were initially not alarmed given it was common for patients to expel blood after being operated on.
The family’s worry was compounded, however, when they noticed the young Revilla’s stomach had bloated after being fed. Diagnosed with distended abdomen, this spurred the doctors to order a third CT scan on the patient.
Solis said the test was scheduled at 8 p.m. last night. The media initially reported the procedure would be done this morning, but Fortun corroborated via text message that the test was indeed moved up to 7:30 p.m. The results of the scan would dictate whether the vice governor would need to be operated on again.
Vice Gov. Revilla had previously undergone CT scan to determine the extent of his injuries. By yesterday morning, a repeat CT scan had been done, wherein his left lung showed “pneumothorax or air in thoracic cavity over hemothorax. Pneumonia on left lung base,” Fortun said.
He added that doctors have assessed patient’s condition to be “serious” and had been put “under watchful observation.”
NEW MOTION
Sen. Revilla will file another urgent motion with the Sandiganbayan to be able to visit his son again at the hospital.
Fortun said they will file the motion early today to ask the court to allow the senator to visit his son again, possibly for longer hours.
Revilla was allowed by the court to go to Alabang Tuesday and be with his son from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. yesterday.
Fortun disclosed that Jolo’s condition was deteriorating as doctors have diagnosed that he had a distended abdomen.
Fortun also disclosed that he has already talked to the Muntinlupa Police and informed them that the vice governor and Rep. Lani Mercado Revilla will submit their sworn statements about the incident within 48 hours.
Jolo was transferred from the ICU to a regular room in deference to the other patients in the ICU and to also allow Jolo to receive more guests who wanted to see him.
ANSWERED PRAYERS
Rep. Revilla had earlier said her prayers for her husband Sen. Revilla to be able to see their son at the hospital have been answered after the Sandiganbayan’s First Division granted the senator’s urgent motion and allowed him to visit their son.
Rep. Revilla lauded the decision of the Sandiganbayan.
“We are happy with their decision,” she said in a statement issued through Fortun.
“I hope that despite the five hours given by the SB, Jolo and Sen and the whole family will spend quality time together,” she said. “Thank God. May God bless the justices’ hearts.”
In its decision, the Sandiganbayan said the senator’s motion was granted on “humanitarian considerations.”
Though the elder Revilla only asked for a three-hour visit, the graft court allowed the lawmaker, who is detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, to stay with his son for five hours.
The vice governor underwent a two-and-a-half hour surgery last Wednesday to remove half a liter of blood from his lungs.
On Monday night, the congresswoman said Jolo needed his father.
“Lord please take over,” she posted on Facebook. “There are things I cannot handle and I need your help Lord to just give my husband the chance to visit his son, Jolo. He needs his father’s support and presence.”
She added, “I know the Sandiganbayan will be deciding on this. Please give the judges the heart to decide as Fathers.Jolo is still in the ICU. Father I lift up to you my ardent request in Jesus name I pray. Amen.”
Fortun on Monday said the vice governor was in stable condition although he had fever due to infection in his body.
