Vice President Jejomar Binay on Wednesday said the government should consider the sentiments of other stakeholders like indigenous Mindanaoans, collectively called lumad, and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in ongoing discussions over the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
Binay said the inclusion of other stakeholders could help ensure peace in Mindanao.
”Perhaps we could include the lumad and MNLF. Our apprehension is that if we have already peace, there will be other group that will sow chaos. It should be answered,” Binay said.
He urged the lawmakers to carefully review the BBL to make sure it wound not run counter to provisions of the Constitution and compromise national sovereignty.
Binay also reiterated his stand that Congressional approval of the BBL should not be bound by a deadline.
The deliberations of the proposed BBL both in the Senate and the House of Representatives hit a snag following the Mamasapano encounter between the Special Action Force  and the combined forces of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters on Jan. 25.
